Am I spiritual?
What do I usually think about when I am free to think*? Look at the two lists and determine how much time you spend thinking about those or similar things in that list. Which list occupies most of your thinking?
* [these are times driving in the car, sitting in your living room or sitting at the table alone, walking down the street, laying in you bed or just waiting to pick up the kids. Free time that is not committed to care of home and family is yours to use as you wish. How often do you wish to use it for carnal and how often for spiritual? These are ‘free to think’ times.]
Carnal Thinking
- How to take care of the finances.
- Something troubling me in a relationship
- Where to go on vacation.
- How we are going to be able to pay our bills.
- How I should arrange the house/yard/
- How I can win in a conflict that lies ahead.
- What I am watching on TV
- A game I am playing on the computer.
- Should I get another car / toy / luxury and shopping for the same.
- The action packed movie I just went and saw
- How good (or bad) I am at what I do.
Spiritual Thinking.
- Lord, what did You mean by what I just read in the Bible.
- What are my spiritual gifts and how can I become proficient in them
- Lord how do you want to use me in my kingdom walk.
- Lord should I go talk to that sad person over there?
- Lord is there anything You want to tell me?
- Lord who should I call and encourage?
- Lord is there any that have needs that I could meet.
- Think about the things I want to ask the Lord the next time I’m with Him
- Something I read in a Christian book, mulling it over in my spirit
- Thinking about an idea I had that would advance the kingdom.
- What it will be like when I come to the Jordan?
